Fable by Adrienne Young (Fable Duology)

Fable survives for four years on the island of Jeval by dredging the sea floor for gems—a skill her mother taught her. Her goal is to earn enough money to leave the island and find her father, to reclaim her place at his side and prove her worth.

She manages to secure passage off Jeval with a young trader named West and his crew aboard the ship Marigold.
